A record bound to be broken
The final climb to Vinuesa’s Laguna Negra (cat 1, km 132,1) is 6,5-kilometre-long, with a 6,8% average gradient. It obviously has a Strava segment, its QOM being 24’25” set by local BTT rider Ana Marcos last September 6th – that is, the very day of the Laguna Negra stage in men’s La Vuelta 23.

A climbing showdown at Vinuesa’s Laguna Negra
Atop this mountain in the Picos de Urbión, you can find a beautiful glacial site. Ireland’s Dan Martin was the first rider to ever win in this ascent during La Vuelta 20, while last year it was Jesús Herrada who claimed victory up here after a long-range breakaway.
